Sensory

At Playhouse Speech and Language Therapy we understand the importance of a regulated sensory system in order to learn, engage and communicate, that is why I aim to provide a space where your child's unique sensory needs and preferences are considered.

95%+ of Autistic people have sensory differences that is why targeted sensory play and strategies are almost always present in these sessions - depending on the child this may look like providing a darkened room, access to fidget toys, spinning, swinging, bubbles, climbing, weighted toys and so much more.

Please note - I always recommend a referral to an occupational therapist who specialises in sensory processing and integration when sensory differences are impacting the child's ability to learn new skills and participate in activities of daily living

Depending on your child, bouncing, climbing, sliding, pulling, fidgeting, deep pressure, squeezing, could be just a few ways we can support the regulation of the nervous system to help get your child in a state to optimise learning and get the most out of our sessions.
