Get to Know Me and My Philosophy

ABOUT ME cont.

I have experience working with children and their parents/caregivers to support and strengthen their communication skills, working collaboratively with other professionals, and contributing to children's individual education plan (IEP) and funding applications.

I am particularly passionate about working in early intervention and providing a play-based therapy approach. I provide a fun and safe space for children and families to be themselves, feel seen and heard, and to reach their goals and potential.

My husband and I have two children and are based in Wainuiomata, where Playhouse Speech and Language Therapy operates.

MY APPROACH

Why 'PLAYHOUSE' Speech and Language Therapy

'PLAY' - Children learn through play. Children are most engaged and able to learn best when they are engaged in things that are of interest and meaningful to them. I believe in play-based learning which is child-led, this might look like me doing/playing what the child is showing an interest in and working on our goals within that activity

'HOUSE' - What happens at home is critical for the development and progress of the child's communication. This is why I will work with you and provide suggestions that can be done at home to help your child's communication development.

Also, my hope is that your child would see my house as a 'playhouse' where they have fun, all while working on their communication.
